About this app

Signal is a messaging app with privacy at its core. It is free and easy to use, with strong end-to-end encryption that keeps your communication completely private.

• Send texts, voice messages, photos, videos, GIFs, and files for free. Signal uses your phone’s data connection, so you avoid SMS and MMS fees.

• Call your friends with crystal-clear encrypted voice and video calls. Group calls supported for up to 50 people.

• Stay connected with group chats up to 1,000 people. Control who can post and manage group members with admin permission settings.

• Share image, text, and video Stories that disappear after 24 hours. Privacy settings keep you in charge of exactly who can see each Story.

• Signal is built for your privacy. We know nothing about you or who you’re talking to. Our open source Signal Protocol means that we can’t read your messages or listen to your calls. Neither can anyone else. No back doors, no data collection, no compromises.

• Signal is independent and not for profit; a different kind of tech from a different kind of organization. As a 501c3 nonprofit we are supported by your donations, not by advertisers or investors.

Great app is you need an exceptional privacy. Just don't forget to save the special code (and can find it in Settings) in case you lose access to it and set up auto-synchronisation. I've been using it for two years, no problems so far. I addition to that, you can have it on your phone, laptop and your tablet at the same time which is very handy.

I like it, but some of its quirks make it pretty annoying compared to other apps. for instance; * The distance you have to raise your thumb in order to react to a message compared to other apps. * The way incoming or outgoing calls cut Signal off without warning or an option to put a call on hold. * The way I can't find the current on-going call by going into the actual app, and entering the chat with the person the call is with or even open apps. I can only find it by looking at notifications.

Clean. It just works without the fluff. I use it for calls, texts, voice notes, the occasional gif & most importantly the note to self chat to jot down stuff quickly. Love that it now has cloud storage recovery (only for text if you're not paying) besides local backups in case I lose my phone or damage it. It's just a shame that most people aren't on here as I prefer it to M£TAs alternatives. On rare occasions, texts or notifications are a bit delayed by a few seconds but that's nitpicking.

What’s new

★ The media editor has been completely redesigned to better support tablets and foldable devices, and now it looks great on screens of all sizes.
★ The new media editor also supports removing the audio track from a video before you send it. If the pastoral slow-panorama footage from your vacation to Scotland was partially ruined by the sound of wandering sheep, with just one tap your movie can become the silence of the lambs.
