I had to register with it before discovering you cannot use it without a paid subscription and it is basically designed for sport, not for navigating around town. Once you register and provide your data you cant even close your account. They claim that you can but the instructions they provide to delete your data are completely and utterly non-existent. More fool me for falling for this trap.

Easy to use App & plan routes, coupled with clear & accurate navigation most of the time. However, just recently (from 3 months ago) the active position while hiking freezes after about 1 hour, sometimes reappearing, but cannot be relied upon to do so. Now I use a combination of Google Maps (which always gives our position) & Komoot (or a screenshot of the Komoot route due to an occaisional complete failure to reload) to estimate our position.

I found Komoot complicated and, overwhelming to use. There is a lot of information on the screen, which made planning and following the actual route less straightforward than I expected. The route initially suggested around 45 minutes, but it took us closer to two hours. Some of that was probably due to getting lost a few times, but having spoken to an experienced cyclist who knows the route, they also said it was much closer to two hours than 45 minutes.
